CREATE OR DIE

CREATE OR DIE

Create or Die was a national arts organisation which not only supported artists in the digital world, but had two dedicated creative arts spaces in Sydney which included individual artist studios, film & photography studios and creative event space, and represented a wide range of independent artists.

MOTH.

MOTH is a dark, philosophical tale. A twisted tale of a bitter man trying to remember why he is forlorn, while an Angel, both ghostly and monolithic in presence, seems to wait for his final revealing collapse into darkness. Trapped in a claustrophobic room without doors, a darkness lit only by an old lamp accompanied by a circulating moth.

dust.

I’ve loved working on the series “DUST” by Pedro Greig over the years, along with these incredibly talented dancers and humans.

“DUST is an ongoing study of the conflict between our unbalanced selves, both as individuals and as a society, with an attempt to predict a universally optimistic outcome. Using the powerful, transformative experience of rebirth as a basis for this project, I have drawn reference from the Italian Renaissance and the extended period of renewed cultural interest following the Dark Ages that carried through to the Age of Enlightenment. Almost as if mirroring this time period whilst on speed, our contemporary society seems to be shifting through the same arc with increased turbulence. The climactic moments expressed in these works relate to an explosive transition between the dying and the new. Old, outdated traditions and values are swept away. A balance is restored, the feminine regains outward strength while the masculine rediscovers its heart, and amongst the chaos emerges a new beginning.” - Pedro Greig
